Feed
a man a fish and you feed him today.
Teach
a man to fish and you feed him forever.
Man
must have nourishment for the body as well as the mind and soul
or he cannot prosper.
The
United Way of the Mid-Willamette Valley helps provide food to the
hungry, shelter to the homeless, sanctuary to victims of domestic
violence, medical assistance to the suffering, and lifelines to
the desperate while helping them develop the skills, self-confidence,
and support systems they need to build healthy, self-sufficient
lives. We're not just about helping people today. We're about helping
people build a future. We're about turning the tide. It's leadership
gifts that make this sea change possible.
Any
individual who annually gives $1,000 or more to United Way of the
Mid-Willamette Valley for our Community Care Fund or for any other
Oregon-based 501 (c) (3) nonprofit health and human service organization
through our annual fund-raising campaign is considered a leadership
giver.
There
are four levels of leadership giving. The 21st Century Club recognizes
these extraordinary gifts:
Alexis
de Tocquveille Society ~ annual gifts of $10,000 or more
Pioneer ~ annual gifts of $5,000 to $9,999
Explorer ~ annual gifts from $2,500 to $4,999
Guide ~ annual gifts from $1,000 to $2,499

Helping
children today means a productive adult tomorrow. Reducing homelessness
today means a safer, healthier community tomorrow. Supporting your
community resources today means a better community tomorrow. Learn
how your leadership gift can have an impact today.
Behind
every contribution to United Way of the Mid-Willamette Valley is
a very personal, very powerful commitment to meeting human needs.
These donors understand the needs of those less fortunate and set
an outstanding example of their core values for others in our community.
A donation of a major gift provides an opportunity to make a significant,
lasting impact in improving our community.
Our
Leadership Givers set a standard of charitable giving in our community
and motivate, by example, those who have the potential to increase
their level of commitment. Since the birth of our nation the spirit
of private giving for public purposes has been a vital ingredient
in American life.
Our
Leadership Giving program seeks to provide to our community:
- Access
to new resources - new dollars from these donations enhance the
ability to respond to community needs.
-
Recognition of community leaders - as these donors and volunteers
gain recognition for their charitable activities, they are recognized
as current and potential community leaders.
-
Increased community spirit - leadership givers demonstrate their
pride in the community and desire to participate in its management
and activities, and encourage the same in others.
